Future-focused projects

  • Sanitary Products and Toiletteries

Providing dignity is a key aim for ACEF and so since 2018 we have endeavoured to support the teenage girls at Brainhouse with menstrual cups and reusable pads. In 2026 we are so pleased to have the support of The Mirianog Trust who have donated funds to provide sanitary products for this year's girls including other toiletries for all orphans at the school.

  • Empowering the community

The Uplift initiative offers small loans to school mothers to help them establish businesses and bring stability to their homes. Although this project is still in its early stages, it is an exciting step towards reducing dependency on charity funding and empowering Brainhouse families to secure their own futures.

  • Energy saving fuel

As the costs of fuel to cook for 500 children has risen, an innovative technique to produce fuel bricks from paper, leaves and coal dust is being used, resulting in an environmentally cleaner and more cost-effective fuel. These fuel bricks are burnt in new, more efficient ovens thereby saving significant expenditure on coal, cooking more sustainably and creating a cleaner cooking environment for the kitchen team.

Your donations enabled recovery from floods

  • Replaced the food supplies

The school had just purchased rice and pulses to feed children for the next 3 months. £4000 worth of food was destroyed by the putrid water. You helped us to buy more supplies to continue feeding the children. And continue to do so - month by month

  • Rebuilt dormatories

We have created a space within the school for a new girls’ dormitory. Although we faced logistical challenges such as relocating electrical systems, beds and bedding have been replaced and we have welcomed orphans back to school providing them with a place they can call home.

  • Replaced educational resources

Books, science equipment, sports kit were all lost but so were the precious IT facilities. The new IT building is now rising above the primary school, ensuring it is safer from future flooding and away from curious hands. Once completed, our senior students will once again have access to technology.
